Pandemonium at the farm
All the cousins are there as the grandmas yarn
Telling us how hard it used to be
And hey you get out of that tree
I’m going down to skinner creek
These are memories I can keep
Were going down with a fishin’ pole
Catching fish from that fishin’ hole
There’s Marge and Marylyn and Nancy too
Telling everybody just what to do
They make everything just right
As we laugh and sing late into the night
I’m going down to skinner creek
These are memories I can keep
Were going down to the swimming hole
Cleanse our bodies and free our soul
Laid back Lenny uncle Tony and Joe
They’re always together where ever they go
That’s them sitting out back by the barn
Man they love this old farm
I’m going down to skinner creek
These are memories I can keep
We’re going down crawdad fishin’
Catching Jodie and her boy friend over there kissing
Skinner Creek farm skins no man
That’s the label he put on the can
Of honey he got from the hives
When this old farm was in its prime
Now grandpa and grandma are long in the ground
But their sprit is all around
You can hear the laughter in the air
You can feel the joy everywhere
Cousin Terry brings the fireworks
The kids are all screamin’ when the bottle rockets burst
The grandmas say don’t burn down the shed
As the sky lights up over our heads
I’m going down to skinner creek
These are memories I can keep
Were going down to the swimming hole
Cleanse our bodies and free our soul
Uncle Eric’s telling jokes that you could be missing
He tells them to anybody that will listen
We never really understand the punch line
But it don’t matter cause we laugh every time
I’m going down to skinner creek
These are memories I can keep
Were going down to the fishing hole
Catching fish with a bamboo pole
So everybody’s here every daughter and son
There’s gotta be at least a hundred cousins
It’s a family reunion like you wouldn’t believe
Nobody ever wants to leave
I’m going down to skinner creek
These are memories I can keep
Were going down to the swimming hole
Cleanse our bodies and free our souls
We’re all going down to skinner creek
These are memories that run deep
Were going down to bare our souls
And maybe our bottoms at that swimmin hole |
